Please join us for our next chapter meeting!
From The Regent
It is hard to believe an entire year has gone by since Gina turned over the Regent’s position to me. It has flown by in the blink of an eye. There has been so much to learn concerning the way a DAR Chapter functions and all the many emails and surveys and reports that State and National require. It has been eye opening! I want to give each of you my deepest heartfelt thanks for your hard work and dedication in helping Wilmington Ladies Tea Walk have a successful year.
WLTW has instituted quite a few new programs and projects that have gained the attention of State and National. The list of our awards received from State at the conference was impressive. Our Historian, Sherri Cane, will scan and save those to our website and the originals will be distributed to the ladies who headed up those projects.
Thanks to each of you for your hard work… You all are the best of the best!
In DAR Sisterhood,
Ann

It’s Official!
Our Organizing Regent, Sandy McKeithan, has been working diligently to ensure we received official Lantern chapter status. It has now been approved and we are all eligible to purchase this new pin.
This is a wonderful way to kick off our 15th Year Celebration!
Chapters designation recognizes any chapters that have transferred an organizing regent or five or more members to organize a new chapter; or, transferred five or more members to revitalize a chapter in order to spread the light of DAR. The chapter that received the members will also receive the same designation. This designation will be retroactively
available to any chapter that can produce evidence or documentation of the relationship.
Any member of a chapter that has received the Lantern Chapter designation is eligible to purchase and wear this gold plated pin on her official ribbon.

Committee & Officer Reports
American Indian Committee
What a great opportunity to help an American Indian child attend summer camp. Please share with your chapter and spread the news to support a child.
The Youth Camp Program is sponsored by Indian Youth of America, Inc., Sioux City, Iowa. Each summer Indian youth come together to take part in the summer camps in Arizona and South Dakota. A variety of activities are provided such as sports, field trips, cultural education, leadership, and healthy living. Thousands of Indian children age 10-14 have had the opportunity to spend the summer in a positive environment.
Scholarships are needed to provide this experience to all children who wish to attend.

Conservation Committee
Jennifer Sturm
Conservation committee and our C.A.R. President visited Bradley Creek Elementary School last month. The 1st grade students learned about pollinators and did butterfly kits. The butterflies all hatched and a release party was held last Friday following the planting of a tree for Arbor Day. Please remember to leave those dandelions alone for the pollinators coming out looking for food…just a few extra days between mowing your lawn can make a huge environmental impact and help increase pollinator numbers.
